I colored my hair today & it turned out darker then expected using a Loreal color w/ highlightin

I was going for a darker blonde w/ highlights %26amp; my hair turned out an ashy, grey blonde color. I should have known when the color was purple going on that it was a bad sign as the color I normally use is just white going on, not colored. This Loreal Experte kit has the color that you put on %26amp; then the highlights that you mix seperate. I havent put the highlights on (yet) My question is, since I dont like this color to begin with, should I run to the store %26amp; get something lighter (people keep telling me bleach, Im not sure what that means exactly, is there a brand of color that is just "bleach" %26amp; would it turn my hair white then %26amp; damage it if I did it today!?) OR should I just put the highlights on that came with the kit all over my head as bleach or use it as highlights....Please help as I have to be at my bf's college graduation tomorrow %26amp; need to look normal! Thank you!

You should go to a salon and have it bleached.

Call the company number listed on the box of product. They will be the best place to give you advice unless you have access to a professional salon. Don't just react randomly as you can make things much much worse.
