Im dying my hair tomorrow with Loreal's HiColor for dark hair only..?

in the instrustions it says to saturate the length and ends staying an inch away from the scalp and process for 20 minutes then apply to the root area and develope for additional 10 mintues

so does this mean i have to work from the bottom up and after the 20 mintues process i do the roots and leave it for 10 minutes?

but my hair is kinda brownish from before .... so should i start from the top since its black?

You're only supposed to do the roots last if you have never dyed your hair before. If you have, just throw the dye on and relax!

your trying to cover black hair? good luck with that!!...when I do my hair, I don't follow the instructions..I go from my roots to the end of my hair..I've never had a problem with doing it that way yet...

virgin hair takes faster to color.so do it last

The reason it says start bottom - or away from the roots is that the roots do not need the dye on as long (actually I believe its your scalp that doesn't need the dye on long!, but your roots are at your scalp).

The roots process faster due to the heat of your scalp, so I would do as the directions advise. Always Choose a shade lighter that you expect

So are you dying your hair black? If your hair is black there is no way you'll be able to lift the color with a home kit, but your roots will process much faster than the shaft, so you should always do them last when trying to make your hair a uniform color.

DON'T DO IT. get it professionally done. that "come in a box" stuff damages your hair real bad. its got a chemical in it that isn't used at the salons that can damage your hair.

If you really wanna do it yourself then i suggest doing your roots leave it in for 10 min. rinse and then do the rest of your hair.
