Loreal haircolor "for dark hair only"...?

i dye my hair black so i thought i would try this product to put red in my hair but it didnt take very well. the color i chose was "deep auburn red" (or something like that). should i try again and get "red" or should i just forget it. i know that color doesnt lift color but this color is designed for black (dark) hair, do you think that it is for naturally dark hair? or should i just leave it on longer..

well, imagine it like this..

you've got a piece of white paper and you colour it in black. and then u put red over the top..u wont really be able to see the red !

so, you need to rub out the black and then put the red on.

so, for your hair, the 'rubbing out of the black' will be done by using a pre-lightener on your hair. it will take out the black colour and let your hair be able to take in the red colour you want and it will show up

also, the product probably needs to be left on for much longer but watch out how long, you could end up with BRIGHT red hair!!

so, strip the colour out then re do it

Hair color stops processing after so long unless it is bleach, it will damage your hair if left in. If you dyed your hair black, then adding a red won't make it red. Think about it, if you color with a black marker, then color over it with red, it will remain black. So red will not work, and using box colors is bad bad bad for your hair. Do not ad any color lifting or lighter color to it, only have a professional work with color on you and tell them that you used box color. Using box color and mixing other brands can make your hair expand then break off. To get it to red you will either have to strip the black out, which will damage your hair, then ad the red. Or ad red as small highlights but by a professional, and they will have to repeat this for thenext yr. until your hair is red. Or you can let it grow out. Black is hard to get out, mostly why I don't recommend using it.

Hi. I want to color my hair dark brown and in shop I see many Loreal haircolors such as Preference, Excellence, Casting... I dont know the difference. I have lots of gray hairs and I want to cover them, but at the same time once I bought dark brown color and my hair became almost black and it took ages until I could go lighter. But at the same time when I use light brown hair color it does not cover white hairs and after some wash it becomes redish. I dont know what to do. Also I have very big black eyes and dark eyebrows and I love to have blonde hair. But everyone tells me that I wont look nice and natural. But then I wonder how some celebrities with dark skin and eyes have blondish hair, like Shakira, Beyonce...Please tell me what to do with my hair.

I believe one is a cream and one is a gel. :)

A dark brown dye will make your hair almost black, so don't use it if that's not the effect you're going for. A medium brown will give a nicer more natural effect.

If you notice one thing about darker skinned celebrities who look great with blonde hair- they're gorgeous. If you're gorgeous you can get away with any hair color. :)

If you go dark brown you need a colour that is going to cover the grey. They packs usually tell you if they are suitable for grey hair and what kind of coverage you will get. Warmer browns will go red because they have a red pigment in the dye. Brown can be a difficult colour, but its a case of trial and error.

On the other hand if you want to go blond but think your eyebrows are too dark, you can have them lightened by your beauty therapist. Its like a reverse eyebrow tint. It takes the dark out but still leaves you with a natural looking lighter brown eyebrow. You need to speak with your hairdresser about a blond shade that works well with your natural skin tones for it to be natural looking. If you have a lot of grey, its is easier for you to maintain blonde as the grey tones blend well with blond and doesnt fade as quick as brown. Nor do you notice the regrowth as bad. My advice as a beauty therapist and hairdresser, is not to try the colors at home until you get it done with your own stylist to see what works for you. they should then be able to recommend a color for you to use at home. Yes it will be more costly to get started but think of what you will save if you screw it up doing it yourself. You may very well find yourself at the hairdressers begging them to fix it anyway!

Loreal Paris Hair Gel?

Alright I have 2 different types of gel. They are the same brand "Loreal Paris". Ive used it before. So there both 'extreme hold" but ones called Invisi Gel and the other is Mega hold or some crap. The Invisi Gel adds volume but doesn't hold the hair as good because it has no hardning crap in it. The Mega hold has the hardning in it, but when I was wearing headphones (end of day, so it didn't matter) they rubbed against my hair a bit making it go back to normal hair with no gel. Im just wondering which one is better?

probably the mega hold.

no hair gels going to hold your hair up if you wear headphone on it all day but it's going to change the shape of your hair and the gel will harden in the way your headphones placed it.

so i think the mega hold is better

but this also depends on the length of your hair and what your trying to do with it.

I you want it all to spike up i would use the mega hold

but i've all you want is a bit of volume then the invisi gel is better.

I have black hair and I've been dying it permanent black for about 2 years now and I'm ready for it to come out. My hair is extra long and super, super healthy! I don't want to damage it so if split ends and stretchy hair is to be expected, please let me know!

Don't let anyone tell you that black hair dye will not come out. However, do not try it yourself! Go to a professional salon and ask the stylist to use a product called "Eliminate." Not only will it take out the dye, but it doesn't damage your hair. I had a super black dye job taken out and it was amazing! All of a sudden my natural hair color was back. I then had it dyed a different color with foil highlights and no damage. The key is having this done professionally. It may be pricey, but it's worth it.

NOPE!!!!! It will only turn the hair orange, at best.

The best thing to do is let it grow out and just keep trimming it....

It will most definately damage your hair. It will break it off and cause it to be stretchy. I had black chunks in my hair, and when I tried to use this prduct to get it out, it didnt come out. It says that if your hair is black you might have to do it twice. That means double the damage.

darling, black and red dye are the hardest color to get rid of... needs the assistance of a profesional so they can decolor your hair... otherwise if you apply the new color by yourself it will get only in the roots.

don't decolor at home 'cause you may burn your hair...

go to a salon to have this done. Those color remover kits are strong bleach and will damage if not break your hair. Have the salon use a color remover. THis will shrink the color molcules and allow then to be removed. The color kit you mentioned if a strong bleach solution which will eat away at the color and inturn eat away at your hair.

Honey, once u go black you can't go back!

But I highly suggest u highlight ur hair a lightbrown color, and wait till your roots grow in. That way your roots won't look too light when they grow in. You could also do a "full head" highlight service at a salon and it bleaches away the black but you'll still have strands of black in your hair. Hope this helps.

that has happened to my mother.... she asked me to do it for her bc im in the whole hair bussiness.... and she gave me loreal stuff.... and i told her that u can never trust loreal bc it's a reallt bad product... and she told me to do it anyways... she is a strawberry blonde, but she had some grey!!! so she wanted me to even it out.... well... i did exactly wat it said to do... and when my mom tookit off... her hair was almost a beach blonde!!!!

she went to the hairdresser... and they fixed her all up.... it worked out great!!!

Oops! usually you are stuck with it. My mum managed to turn her friends hair orange as well and i don't think you can re-dye it for a while without seriously damaging your hair. But I'm no hair dresser so i suggest you go to your appointment and see if anything can be done if not then highlight your hair, will take the focus off the orange.

Cannot understand why it is orange unless you already had a colour on it before,thats why they tell you to do a strand test.

I coloured mine this morning,my hair is a dark brown naturally but i always go rum/mahogony colours, i never use the same brand just what is on offer at the time, mine is fine, take the box with you to the hairdresser as they may need to know what contents were in the solution for when they apply the colour.

I did the same thing with the same results! I put on a hat, went to the store and bought something that was closer to my natural color and did it over. No multi-tones, just solid.

I left mine like that until it was time to touch-up. Then I went to the salon and had it done professionally. (Saves quite a bit of embarrassment!)

If you typically get your hair colored by a hairdresser that could explain a few things. The color you already had in your hair may have had red tones to it. Also, over the counter color contains metallics that do not react well to the real thing. So you could have gotten the red from the metallics alone. My suggestion is to go darker. If you try to go lighter or strip the red you are going to do some serious damage to your hair. After a few weeks you can add some foils. Each time you go to your hairdresser add some more. Doing this will give your hair time to repair itself. Good luck to you!

to be honest if i was you i wouldnt use the cheap hair colours to highlight because theyre bound to go wrong especially if your trying to dye lighter than your natural dark colour, i used to use the cheap dyes but i have it done at the hairdressers now because it looks so much more natural and nicer!! good luck with fixing it though!!

Im dying my hair tomorrow with Loreal's HiColor for dark hair only..?

in the instrustions it says to saturate the length and ends staying an inch away from the scalp and process for 20 minutes then apply to the root area and develope for additional 10 mintues

so does this mean i have to work from the bottom up and after the 20 mintues process i do the roots and leave it for 10 minutes?

but my hair is kinda brownish from before .... so should i start from the top since its black?
