How long can I use hair dye after its initial mixing with the developer?

Yesterday I purchased Loreal Paris Superior Preference (Dark Brown) Kit. As usual, I mixed the dye with the developer and applied it to my hair, with about half left at the end. After the process, I have decided that I don't think that my hair is dark enough. I still have the other half of the dye left. Would it still work if I tried putting the rest of it in my hair a day after mixing it? And even if it wouldn't do anything, would it damage my hair if I tried?

You can't keep it that long because the developer stops working after about 30-40 minutes. Next time, only mix 1/2 the dye and tightly seal the rest.

The hair dye won't do anything a day after mixing it with the developer. You should have used it within half an hour - maximum! - after mixing.

No it won't do anything to your hair, it probably won't damage it (no more than a regular coloring process does), and you should dispose of the leftover mixture before it bubbles up and starts bursting out of the container (all over your sink or wherever it is). Just buy the same color again. Was this your first time coloring your hair?? You might have to go a shade deeper - maybe even a demi color.
