What other products can I use to take weight off my hair?

I'm a fella with hair that goes completely over my ears and long enough to reach the bottom of my neck, and its long enough to straighten. I do straighten my hair with ceremic straightners.

The problem is my hair is so THICK it just looks overgrown and then just goes curly again in a few hours. I did get the ends of my hair blunted about a month ago for growth but when I asked to have my hair thinned out somehow they wouldnt do it and said it would grow out instead of grow down and the best thing to do is to use products to keep it down.

I have a lot of hair on my head and they described it as "a lot of hair per 'square inch' of my head".

Are there any chemicals to help me tame it? I use Loreal hot straight and Tresemme heat protection spray and it helps a bit, and I put a bit of matt clay on parts that dont want to behave but this takes well over an hour and I despise my hair looking like a fuzzy afro if I dont do it.

Any ideas what I can do?? I'm in the UK btw.

Aveda has a really nice product called "get curly", it is a light cream that is not greasy at all. You want to use something like that or a spray product. Do not use moose, pomade or gel because that will weigh your hair down.

It may also help to have your hair cut in layers that way there is more movement in your hair and it will appear to be lighter. Your curls will spring up better and it will be easier to straighten your hair.

Also, it may help to get a product to spray in your hair once you straighten it so that it will remain straight and will not get curly once you go outside in the humidity. John Frieda makes a nice product called "simply straight".

Good luck!

wear a hat, cut it short, or get it 'razored'. that doesnt mean get it all shaved off, youc an get the hairdesser to use a special razor which selects about a 1/3 of the hair and cuts it off, thinning out your hair. if your current hairdresser wont do it, go to a different one - the customer is always right.

there's no product that I know of that would do that, I think you have to change hairdressers as most good hairdressers recommend layering or other techniques for this.

I know many people do this, esp girls becos when hair gets long, it naturally weighs down %26amp; hairdressers know how to deal with this.
